Taking a trip to Hong Kong? What if your trip was free and all you had to do was write about it? Budget Travel magazine did just that for all 324 of its contributors/readers in its June 2008 issue. What kind of problems did the almost-100% reader-written issue pose? To start, Budget’s editorial staff received over 2,800 pitches from readers. Folio reports: “A piece called ‘50 Reasons You Love New York’ elicited 500 submissions alone.” But how did the issue turn out?
